ORCHID
Continuous Bypass Filtration + Vacuum Dehydration
Every litre of oil your purifier discards is a litre you didn’t have to lose. ORCHID treats and returns 100% of processed oil — zero discharge, zero waste.

The Dilemma
Quality or Consumption.
Pick One.
Auxiliary engines live in a trap. Run the purifier and the oil stays clean — but you’re pouring 600 litres per engine overboard every year. Skip the purifier and contamination takes over. ORCHID breaks that trade-off entirely.
Skip the purifier
Fuel dilution, soot buildup, water ingress, and metallic wear particles go unchecked. Bearing wear accelerates. Rings stick. Maintenance bills climb. Oil quality degrades below safe operating limits.
⚠ Result → Engine damage, unplanned downtime
Run the purifier
Bowl discharges dump 5–15 L of usable oil with every cycle. Three auxiliary engines running purifiers means 1,800 L in operational losses each year — plus 300 L in evaporation and leakage.
⚠ Result → 2,100+ litres wasted per vessel annually
ORCHID resolves the trade-off. Superior oil quality. Zero oil loss. Purifier offline — permanently.
How It Works
Three stages. Complete oil reconditioning.
ORCHID draws oil from the aux engine sump, treats it through three complementary stages, and returns it cleaned. No crew intervention required. Continuous or on-demand operation.
1
Multi-Stage Filtration
80 µm → 20 µm → 5 µm
Removes soot, carbon particles, and metal wear debris in progressive stages. Reusable stainless-steel filters — no disposable cartridges, no recurring waste. Achieves ISO 16/14/11 cleanliness, surpassing most centrifugal purifiers.
2
Vacuum Dehydration
Free + Emulsified + Dissolved
Removes all three forms of water — including dissolved moisture that purifiers miss entirely. Dual vacuum pump arrangement with 25 m³/h capacity for built-in redundancy. Reduces water content below 0.05% aw — down to 50 ppm.
3
Thermal Conditioning
18 kW · Thermostatic Control
18 kW electric heater brings oil to optimal treatment temperature. Improves separation efficiency across filtration and vacuum stages. Controlled heating extends oil molecular life and additive integrity.
0 Zero discharge losses. Unlike centrifugal purifiers that discard good oil with contaminants, ORCHID treats and returns 100% of processed oil to the sump. Every litre stays in service.
Contaminant Coverage
Nothing stays hidden.
Seven categories of contamination. Each one addressed with a specific treatment method — from fine particulate to dissolved gases your purifier never touches.
Particulate Matter
Dust, metallic wear, rust flakes
Causes abrasive wear, increased friction, and valve seizure.
Multi-stage filtration → 5 µm
Water — Free
Leaky coolers, condensation
Drives oxidation, microbial growth, and lubricant breakdown.
Vacuum dehydration
Water — Emulsified
High-shear mixing at pumps
Reduces oil film strength and washes out critical additives.
Vacuum dehydration
Water — Dissolved
Absorbed into oil over time
The hidden threat. Purifiers miss it entirely — until sudden phase separation occurs.
Vacuum dehydration
Soot & Carbon
Combustion blowby
Increases viscosity, plugs filters, and degrades lubrication performance.
Fine filtration → 5 µm
Clean, dry, properly conditioned oil that extends engine component life by 20–30%.
Head to Head
ORCHID vs. Centrifugal Purifier
A side-by-side on every metric that matters. Proactive continuous conditioning versus batch treatment and waste.
| Factor | Centrifugal Purifier | ORCHID System |

| Water Removal | Free water only | Free + emulsified + dissolved |
| Particle Removal | >10–15 microns | >5 microns (ISO 16/14/11) |
| Discharge Waste | 5–15 L per discharge | Zero discharge |
| Crew Intervention | Bowl cleaning 8–12 hrs/month | Minimal — annual filter inspection |
| Operating Mode | Batch / intermittent | Continuous bypass |
| Spare Parts Cost | $800–1,200/year | $500/year (filters only) |
| Treatment Capacity | 500–800 L/hr | 600 L/hr |
| Power Consumption | 5–7 kW | 18 kW (includes heating) |
| Footprint | Large (purifier + heater + separator) | Compact skid (1.2 × 0.8 × 1.5 m) |
